What can we do about violence?????

Violence, what a hard word to describe or write about, but let me tell you that violence is so advance right now that we just can't stop it.There are gangs everywhere now; and people want to fight about any little reason. Some people instead of helping to cut the violence they make it worst. Some people blame it on the violent movies their children watch.
When I was in high school fights were cool, that's what people taught. My friends and I would just fight with girls if we didn't like them for any reason. Now, that I'm a mom I wouldn't like my child to do all the bad things I did when I was young and all for popularity.People don't realize that by harming some else they are also harming themself.People that are in gangs don't realize that they are hurting their family and their close ones. They think that instead they are helping them and not realize the harm they are doing to them and they town.
Since, the September 11, I've realized that there is more violence than I can remember.Saddam Hussain destroyed part of the United States and we should stop the wars before anyting gets worst.I know for a fact that violence is going to be something we have to learn to live with.RIGHT???

what I like more about my town???

To start out with I live in Gerber, but I was raised in Willows.I want to move back because I miss all my friends and all the activities I did with my sisters:like playing basketball, jump rope, dodge ball, and we would go to the park and swing(we loved to swing in the swings). Now I live about 50 to 70 miles away from my mom's house; and I really don't have time to go and visit them very often since I have two jobs now and I go to school.Willows is not a big town, and that's what I like about it.Its a calm town and everybody gets along quite well.On Fridays,Saturdays, and Sundays all of my friends and I would go and hang out at the movie theater. It's not a big theater like Chico's, but we had fun going there. Also it was fun because you knew everybody, so if you would go alone there was always someone there that you knew.
After 16 years living somewhere its hard to make the decision of moving somewhere were maybe you don't know anybody and you are not familiar were everything is at.But in Willows if you would move there you would know where everything is located, because everything is right in sight. Also you could as anybody and they would be happy to help you find what your looking for.I hope you would go and visit someday, but I have to tell you that it might look boring to you, but to me its my town Willows.

APPENDIX C

WRITE ABOUT A TIME WHEN YOU TRIED TO HOLD ON TO SOMEONE OR SOMETHING THAT WANTED TO BE FREE.
When I was 12 years old my dad came from working at the fields; and he had found a rabbit. We kept the rabbit for about 3 weeks. It didn't want to eat or drink anything. So my dad said that maybe he missed his wild living and that he would take him back to be free. My brother and I were very dissappointed, and we didn't want my dad to take Osito (that's what we named it), we felt like he was part of the family already. Then my dad explained to us why we had to let him go; and if we didn't he explained what would be the consequences. So we decided to let him go even tough it was very hard for us.
Days and weeks passed by we bought some other kinds of pets to forget about Osito, but it was impossible we knew from that day that Osito was going to live in our hearts forever. We would always pray for him to be ok. My brother would always give my dad some bunny food to give Osito just to make sure he was eating right and not starving. My dad would make sure that Osito would eat it. After two months we got used to not seeing Osito and not having him in our lives. But I know we will never forgive him because he still lives in our hearts.

APPENDIX B

WRITE FOUR TO FIVE WORDS OR TERMS THAT ONCE WERE UNKNOWN OR CONFUSSING TO YOU. EXPLIAIN HOW YOU LEARNED THEIR MEANING.
When I first came here I started to go to school here so I kind of learned all my English at school. Believe or not but English was my first language because I would go to school and speak English. When I would go play with my friends they would speak English too. It was hard for my brothers and I to communicate with my parents since they didn't speak English and all of our homework was in English. Then my mother saw how we would have trouble to communicate and she decided to go to and English class. The fisrts terms we heard her say were, How are you? What's your name? and My name is Alma. As you can see she started out learning the basic terms. Like everyone else that goes to learn English at a night class.RIGHT???

APPENDIX A

IF YOU ARE WORKING OR HAVE EVER WORKED WITH CHILDREN, WRITE A PARAGRAPH DESCRIBING THE GOOD OR BAD ASPECTSA OF THE JOB.
I been taking care of kids since I can remember. All my life I took care of my sisters and my brother while my parents went to work. Also when I turned 12 I took care of my godmother's two little girls and it is not easy to take care of kids, espesially if they are under 5 years old.The responsibilities are to feed them, play with them, if you are taking care of others make sure they don't fight, keep everything that is dangerous out of reach, and never leave them alone.Kids are very courios and they do things that they think are right.Taking care of kids is harder than taking care of your own.

The most difficult dicision......

I would say the the most difficult decision I made was deciding on getting married to young and becoming a mother. I decided to get married because I really loved my husband and I didn't feel like I was doing something wrong on getting married; but I think I should of waited to finish my career and have a good condition of living life.
My husband and Myself tought I couldn't have kids because and accident I had when I was about 9 to 12 years old. So, after my husband and I got married we talked about going to the doctor and looking for a solution, but about three months the news came that we were going to be parents. We would go to church and thank God for the miracle he gave us to become parents. Now we are waiting for me to finish my college then have more kids.
I now that for a lot of girls this decision is really hard, but for me it wasn't that hard. Becoming a parent, being a wife and a student is not easy at all. I now that we all think that being a mom is easy, but it is not especially if you want to work, go to school and continue on having fun. Because after becoming a parent you really don't have time to go out and have fun. That's why I advice all you young ladies to think it twice when a man asks you, "Would you marry me?"

Where would I go on my dream vacation? What would I do?

To tell you the truth my dream vacation would be Mexico, because when I came from Mexico I was about two years old and I haven't been there since. My sisters went about four years ago and they say its better than here. The beaches are bigger and the people are friendly. The only thing that made them feel sad; was that they are alot of people that live in the streets and ask for food when you drive by.
The part I would like to go is Acapulco or Puerto Vallarta. I have aunts there, but I don't remember them. I know that if I call them and ask them if my family and I could stay at their house for a couple of days they would let us.
If I get the chance to go I would go to all the stores and restaurants. Learn about their ways of living and how they party over there. I would like to go to all the night clubs and party till I pass out. I would also like for my husband and I to go to the beach and have a romantic night. With candles and a Mariachi by our side, I can just imagine the fun all three of us would have. Its like a dream come true.

How would I would like to be remembered?

When God wants me to leave this place I would like people to remember me as a good mother first of all also as a person that worked hard to have what I had and also someone that never gave up.I was a person that worked hard to accomplish my dreams my little sister looked up to me as her older sister and I did want her to feel disappointed about me.I was an outgoing and a very friendly person.I would say that I was the person that my friends or sisters would come up to me to count on in the bad and in the good times and if I had an advice that would help them I would let them now.
I would like my husband to remember me as a loving and caring wife.Because to him I was his wife, friend, and I loved him with all my heart.I know he will never forget the day I told him that he was going to be a dad.Or when we decided to get married and live the rest of our lives together. Also I would like my daughter to remember me as her hero because everything I did was for her so that when this day come that I was no longer going to be with her, she feels proud of me and she would do the same thing I did.For example finish school, get a Career that really interest her, work hard to have what she most wants in her life, and not depend on a guy now in then us women can take care of ourselves.
I know my daughter is going to become a mom and I would like her to talk about how proud of me she is with her kids and give them the same advice I gave her when I was around. Not just to be their mom but to become their best friend and let them know that they can count on you for what ever is right for them.RIGHT???

My favorite memory from my childhood is....

I would probably have to say when I turned 15Th because us Mexicans when a girl turns 15TH we get a big party like a wedding kind of thing but its called a Quincenera.A week before my Quincenera my aunt and two of my cousins came from Mexico and stayed at our house. Then a day before my relatives came from Oregon, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles,San Jose,Vaiselia, and Las Vegas. We tried to fit as many people in our home as we could and the rest had to rent a hotel. On the big day everything was so crazy because all us girls went to the salon to get either our hair, make-up,or our nails. When we got back from the salon the house was all up side down because my uncles were just watching T.V. instead of watching the kids. But we just went straight to get dress. So we just left the house all messy. My aunts all took turns using the bathroom to take the kids a shower and to get them ready. The church started at 2:00pm and the reception started at 4:00pm.After church we left to the hall and we all started to dance.
That day I meet my first boyfriend and well since in Mexico all the girls can't have boyfriends till after their 15Th B-Day.That day he went and talked to my mom and my mom was cool she said to take care and to go and have fun.So we did we danced all night and then about 1:30am we were sitting down waiting trying to get some air we were so tiered. At 2:00am the party was going to be over. But before the party ended my boyfriend went up to the stage and he dedicated me a song and he called me up to dance with him. That was the last song we dance and then the party was over.I will never forget that big day, even though I didn't end up married to my boyfriend back then. What do you think????

A perfect weather day,What would I do?

I'm not really into sunny days they make me feel tired and sleepy.A perfect day for me would be a rainy and with strong thunder storms. The things that I would do are first go out and enjoy the rain I love to run and play soccer in the rain.I really don't like to stay inside and miss the whole scene. When my brother and I were small we would always wait for rainy days to go out and have a lot of fun.Even though my parents wouldn't like us to go out in the rain for the reasons that we where going to get sick and we were going to have to miss school.
I know that you are going to think that I am a little weird, but I really do love the rain and just how I explained to you my perfect day is the best and I invite you to do what I do in the rain and trust me you will love it and careful because it can be addictive. And as we all know it doesn't rain everyday so when it does come enjoy it and remember to let your body flow in the rhythm of the rain and the thunder.Daniel you should try it and then tell me about it OK??

Describe a memorable teacher you have had

The teacher I will always remenber is my math teacher Mr. Dunning. He showed me alot of things of life that till today I still remember his advices.Anytime I had a problem of any kind he was always their to count on.Mr. Dunning would always be straight out with me and tell me the things that where right and the things that were not right. He would always let me know that my education was first then anything and I hard to work hard to be someone in life.He would always tell me that maybe someday I would take his teaching class over if I would put all of my effort.
On my senior year I went to visit him and he looked all sad.I asked him what was going on and he told me that this was going to be his last year of teaching and that he was going to miss me.So what I did was on my graduation day I asked him to hand me my diploma, he agreed and gave me and hug so tight like if he didn't want to let go.
It was 7:00pm and I was gathering some students to do a good buy letter to Mr.Dunning everybody signed it and aggreed to participate. So at 8:30pm after our principle gave his speech we all got up and I went forward to read the letter and after I was done he came up gave a thank you speech I handed him the card we had all signed with an album of all of his student and told him we were never going to forgive him and I haven't yet.

Describe someone close to you. What do you admire most about this person?

The person I have always looked up to and admire so much is my brother Carlos. My admiration up to him started on hid 15Th birthday when my parents decided it's was time for him to go work in the fields and help out pay the bills.Since that day my brother had to go to school on weekdays and on weakens he would go to work 10 hour a day.
After two years my brother got tired of that and went to go look for a better job he applied almost everywhere in Willows, when he got a called from McDonald's. He was so happy he went to his interview came home and gave us the news that he had got the job.
My parents were old fashion style they always told my brother and I that the guy was made to go to work and the woman was made to stay home and cook for the family. But my brother and I though different because we would see how the people would live here in the United States and my parents try to raise us like they were raise in Mexico.
After I graduated from High School he told me to continue going to college and get a career because working in the fields was just not a thing her would ever like me to end up at.But I didn't go to college I got married had a baby and well I had a good job but they were just lazy people working their and he kept on telling me to study and go back to school, so I did I came back and thanks to him I'm trying to get my cosmetology license.
My brother still today his working at McDonald's and is manager now. He is studying for a PE teacher. Ever since he was in school he was into sports and PE teacher has become a thing for him. His a wrestling coach for the middle school in Corning and he loves it.Him and his friends have also made up a DJ group that's were he gets to pay his school. My brother has told me that in spring break he is going to marry the woman of his life.I'm so happy for both I now Amanda(his girlfriend) has waited for so long for my brother to propose to her and he finally did on Christmas day. I wish them the best and well I have to go 100% to school and put all my effort to pass all my classes.

Describe your dream job. What would you like most about this position? Why do you want to do it?

I figured out that my thing was cosmetology or bakery . Ever since I was 10 I loved to do my little sisters hair, nails, and make-up and my own. I also love to help my mom bake cookies, cinnamon rolls, Mexican bread and other good stuff.
I have always dream of having my own beauty shop. When ever friends go to my house or call to ask if I have time to do their hair, nails, or make-up. I feel so good and proud of myself that I can satisfied them with my abilities. They always pay me with cash and a big satisfied smile on their face. That's what makes me work harder in learning new stuff ans new hair styles just for all of us beautiful woman out there.
My position dream is a professional cosmetology because I'm that way I actually now that it's going to come out right and I'm those persons that never give up that I have to keep on doing it and doing it till I now it's correct and looks the way the customer and I wants it to look. For example I would like to work for all the models and actresses that come on TV my number one dream.
The first time i felt like giving up was when one of my home girls Antonia took one of her friends to me to do her hair. She wanted blond highlights and well I got everything ready I started to do her hair and when I finished her hair we sat down for a while so that the 25min would pass when all of a sudden she yelled from the bathroom,"MY HAIR." I rushed to the bathroom and her hair turned out a really white, bleached color I was so embarrassed and I just couldn't find the words to tell her. She left all upset and so that's when I kind of turn my dream down. But the next weekend she called me and she asked me to do her a nice hair do because she was going to be an a wedding and was going to be the maid of honor. I was so happy that I got prepared to do the best hair do I new. She ask,"How much do I ow you?" "Nothing," I reply. She gave me a hug and said, "I really love it." So now I'm here trying to live my dream in the future.
I hope that all of the students here at Butte College can make all of their dreams true and all we have to do is work hard and remember we all make mistakes and we learn something from them,"RIGHT?"

What are your goals and/or expectations for this semester?

I have quit a few goals for this semester since it's my first semester and well it's been a while that I haven't been to school ( about four years) so I just hope that it won't get to stressful or just to much for me.For the reason that I have a 23 month old baby I work full time so it's kind of hard to not miss once in a while.Coming back to school was my best choice I think because I can get a better job and not only that but I could also be someone or something in the future. I would also like to learn more about the school I really don't know much about it.My first day I really couldn't find any of my classes.I would also like to meet all kinds of people from all over the world and of course make friends. Also this semester I would like to get help with how to write a good paper work. For example learn how to spell check and grammar my own writing. Also try to stay at the same passe as the classmates. Today in my life the only thing important is my family especially my baby so I have to work hard and show my family that I could do it. I just hope that down the line my classes don't get that hard and I don't stress to much at school or work.
I hope that this class can help me with all my English, because when you speak two different languages is not as easy as learning to speak it. You have to learn how to write it, read it and use the appropriate words with what you are trying to say to the other people. I'm not really good for English I mean it's just not my favorite class, but I'm willing to do my best and learn my pronouns, adjectives, subjects and etc. Daniel I hope you can help me because I can't do it by myself. I promise you that I will pass this class with at least a C+ maybe even better, but I do need your help. Like people say we can do it together, Right?
